If you have found a stray dog that does not appear injured and is older than 3 months of age with no form of identification, BY LAW, the dog must be impounded by Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.

Arizona Humane Society – Stray dogs with some form of identification may be turned in to the Arizona Humane Society, and they will gladly attempt to notify the owner and facilitate the pet’s safe return home. They require a $20 fee to turn in an animal. If the stray dog is a puppy younger than 3 months of age or is sick or injured, you have the additional option of turning the dog in to the Arizona Humane Society at their Sunnyslope Facility 7 days a week, from 9am to 5pm; however, they are closed on major holidays. They require a $20 fee to turn in an animal. Or, if the dog is injured, call their Animal Rescue department at (602) 216-6440 to have the dog picked up by one of their EAMTs. |
